Welcome to the History of Slingerland Drums section of the web site. From here you should be able to gather information to determine what slingerland drums you have and what year they were made.

We have Slingerland Drum Finishes, Slingerland Drum Badges, Slingerland Drum Set Catalog Pages, Slingerland Snare Drum Catalog Pages and the Best Slingerland History Section ever on Slingerland Drums by our resident expert DrCJW.

What you might not know if you are new to vintage drums is that manufacturers did not keep accurate serial number records. Inventory control was not an important part of drum making. It has been documented that a box of drum badges could turn up that are older and were used up so there was no waste. In many cases new serial number badges were put on top of older serial number badges which puts a newer drum with an older badge.

These drums are anomalies that throw the dating guide off a little and make pinpointing exact years difficult at times.

The Vintage Drum Guide web site is connected to the largest all vintage drum forum where you could do even more research and become a member to ask questions and learn from people that have been collecting for many years. The Vintage Drum Forum can be found by clicking here.

Here are links to the different Slingerland Drum Company History sections on this web site. These Pages will help you determine what your drums are and what range of years they were made. I would start in the *Catalog Scans sections to see what year your drums are close to then go to badges and serial numbers to narrow the date.
