Thanks for your interest in Puresound Wires for your Slingerland Zoomatic
Strainer. The Zoomatic strainer was used by Slingerland from the 1960's
to the 1990's. It has been one of their most popular snare strainer
systems. Multiple versions of this strainer do exist and all of them
will work with the PR-1420's. The extended butt side originally came
with a metal strap like the one pictured. In later years plastic straps
or string were used. Here is how you install our wires on this drum.
( Before you begin any snare wire installation it is important to release
the tension from the strainer so that the strainer is at the lowest
setting so you have extra room to tighten and tune the drum.)
Installation
|
First and foremost set the
butt side so that the wire ends hang off the head just so that the
snares are laying flat and the underside where the tab connects
to the wires is not on the head. |
Apply pressure to the wires on both
sides of the rim then with your thumb apply pressure to the
top of the metal tab where it hits the extended butt arm. Then
with the other hand bend the metal tab down.

To finalize the installation
remove the screws and butt plate bar. Carefully bend the tab into
place and then re secure the plate and screws. Then mark the metal
tab and cut the unwanted metal if you want. Use a tin snips to
do this.
