A sunny afternoon in the Bloemstraat in working class quarter ‘the Jordaan’ in Amsterdam. In the background the famous Westertoren ‘Wester Tower’) with it’s carillon. Front left the three basements, nr. 66, 64 and 62.
The basement entrance of the company on number 62. Above the three basements (with all the machinery) about 25-30 people lived there in their apartments! Notice that Looise and Vogel often worked until ten ‘o clock in the evening!
The rather unpretending firm sign at the door at number 62.
Before they started… always a good cup of coffee first!

Mr. Looise bending the bearing edges. This was done for two reasons: making the shell much stronger and of course for saving drumsticks.
Mr. Looise making an indentation (Center Bead) in the middle of the shell. Two reasons: also to make the shell much stronger and second for aesthetic reasons (a nicer look).
A little supply of half-finished brass shells.
Workbench and cupboards for small parts.

A box full of swivel nuts.
Brass holder/strip for marching snares. This holder is rivetted to the hoop. In the holder the drum player can ‘hook’ his belt.
Brass snares guards for the bottom snare drum hoop.
Mr. Vogel drilling every hole in every part of every shell … that’s labour lost!
